About us
Shipleys Tavern has been part of Madison since 1867, making it the oldest continuously running bar in town and home to the second-oldest liquor license in Indiana. What started as a small basement bar run by the original Shipley family has grown into a local staple.
Today, we're still that classic shotgun-style bar with a lot of history and plenty of character. We keep things simple: great burgers, cold drinks, and a laid-back spot to hang out. Our burgers are what we're known for, and they've kept people coming back for generations.
Shipleys is a 21+ bar, and we've got a pull tab machine if you're feeling lucky. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it's the kind of place where you can kick back, grab a burger, and be part of a little Madison history.
